Ambitus 1.1: drawing, protection, versions and more
Drawing
-
Choose your paper. New drawings start on Screen, A4 upright or landscape, square, or any size you type in centimetres or pixels.
-
Resize a drawing. Make a whole drawing bigger or smaller, paper and ink together, and the lines stay sharp.
-
See your zoom. The drawing screen shows how close you are. Tap it for 100%, Whole Page or Fit Width, and zoom out as far as 10%.
-
Zoom in up to 1000%. Drawings stay sharp at every zoom, on iPhone, iPad and Mac.
-
Select exactly what you circle. A new Select tool takes only what's inside your loop, cutting through lines at its edge. Then move, resize, cut, copy, paste, duplicate or delete, and paste into another drawing.
-
Layers. Keep parts of a drawing apart on up to 10 layers. Show or hide them, set their opacity, change their order, and move a selection from one layer to another.
-
Lock a layer. A padlock keeps a layer safe from changes while you work on the others.
-
Pictures to trace over. Add a picture to a drawing on a layer of its own, under your ink. Move it, resize it, fade it, then draw on top.
-
Exact sizes. Set a pen, pencil or eraser to an exact size, and choose how see-through the ink is.
-
Undo tells you what it did. In a drawing, each Undo and Redo names the step it took back or put back.
Notes and lists
-
Protected notes and lists. Lock a note or a list with a password, and open it with Face ID or Touch ID. What's inside, photos, drawings and recordings too, is locked away, even in its file in iCloud. The title stays visible with a padlock.
-
Version History. Go back to how a note or list looked earlier. Versions are kept for 30 days, on all your devices.
-
Recently Deleted. Deleted notes, folders and lists can be put back for 30 days.
-
From a note to a task or event. Select words in a note, or a list item, and choose Add as Task… or Add as Event…. The date and time are read from your words, and the task or event links back to them, even from Apple's Reminders and Calendar.
-
Notes in Tasks. Tasks and events now show the first line of their notes under their name.
Apple Watch
- Speak on the Apple Watch. Tap Speak, say your note, and only the words go into today's quick note, with no recording kept.
